Following our pledge to implement Operation Clean Sweep, Plasgran have joined a further initiative with the British Plastics Federation (BPF) called Safety in Manufacturing Plastics (SIMPL).
SIMPL aims to improve health and safety standards in the plastics industry by identifying areas for improvement, and providing help for companies in making those improvements. The initiative is a partnership between trade associations, employers, trade unions, HSE, equipment manufacturers and training organisations.
To aid the plastics industry in achieving set targets, Plasgran have pledged to take action in several key areas. Currently we have established processes that already fulfil the requirements set by SIMPL.
Plasgran have in place a health and safety policy statement, as well as risk management systems and structures. As a partner of this initiative, we perform annual self-audits according to BPF standards to evaluate our efforts and identify areas for improvement, including steps to reduce accidents in the workplace.
Key persons within the company are tasked with the responsibility of overseeing health and safety standards. We also work to ensure that we are equipped with the necessary skills to implement our action plan. Every employee is given access to professional advice and training.
An area of priority of the SIMPL initiative is the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH), whereby we carry out assessments and implement control measures to safeguard employees from exposure to any potentially dangerous chemicals.
