On his first outing with Team Pyro, Max Coates set the pace in the 2018 Renault UK Clio Cup Media Day’s official test at a wet Silverstone.
Coates produced a late burst of speed to top the time sheets just a few minutes before the end of the day’s third and final session in which every driver set their fastest lap time. Coates first run was used to run in his new Pyro Motorsport car and he then pushed on to improve during the day.
“The car is absolutely brand new – today is the first time it’s turned a wheel and it’s a great way to start life with Pyro,” said Coates.
“It’s also been a very productive media day for all the drivers on the grid and, from the feedback I’ve had, I know just how much my own sponsors have got out of it.”
Coates also used the day to reveal his new for 2018 livery featuring Harron Homes, Primex Plastics, PLASgran Recycling, Clements Limited and Bennett Renault. The grand unveil was done in front of the BRDC Clubhouse for which the Yorkshire Patron is a Rising
